Adventure Playground Accessibility

Adventure Playground

A playground is a place to have fun, to learn and to grow. Chapman Foundation Adventure Playground is a destination for children and parents from miles around, offering a special outdoor environment where everything is designed specifically with the intention of engaging the imagination and the body. The playground is truly multigenerational, providing interest for adults as well as children. The elements engage children at various developmental levels and with different types of abilities.

Fairyland Forest

One of the five realms of Adventure Playground, Fairyland Forest, offers many playful elements meant to stimulate creativity. There is boardwalk access to each play feature in Fairyland Forest, providing easy entry and transitions.

The sand play area has a lower tiered sand box with three play houses and wooden boats in the center. There is a transition platform provided for mobility impaired guests. Also, one of the playhouses is accessible from the ground level, providing equal access for all. Mobility impaired guests can access this area from the boardwalk surrounding the sand play area.

River Giants

In this realm children can ride the slides of the Blue Herons, climb a Paddlefish, and ride cradle swings. Mobility impaired guests can access this play element from the stairway located in between the herons. The slides are accessible from the stairway via a transition platform at the base of the herons. The slide on the right has gripping points to assist in climbing.

Paddlefish is a ground level play area with climbing elements. Mobility impaired guests can access this element from at ground level.

The cradle swings are ground level play elements. Mobility impaired guests can access the cradle swings through a walkway adjacent to the Paddlefish.  Wheelchair guests would need to transition into the cradle swing.

Spiral Connector And Towers

The Spiral Connector and Towers are among the most iconic areas in Gathering Place.  These majestic towers, seven in total, are specifically designed to encourage physical play while stimulating the imagination. The Spiral Connector and Towers are a series of climbing structures, net and suspension bridges and slides. Mobility impaired guests can access the Towers via the Spiral Connector as well as the ramp located to the left of the restrooms.  This access will allow the guest to access the elevated level of four towers.

Mobility impaired guests can access the play ship from a boardwalk located to the right of the highest slide.

Volcanoville

This play area, with low level climbing elements, was specifically designed with toddlers in mind. Mobility impaired guests can access the play ship from a boardwalk located to the right of the highest slide.
