Want to get into running but don’t know where to begin? Kick-start to your fitness journey with Run Walk Run Training; a program tailored to help people of all ages and abilities find the joy in running or walking. Run Walk Run Training meets at 6 p.m. every Monday at the bottom of ONEOK Boathouse, starting on May 6. Whether you are training for a 5K or just looking for a fun way to get fit, Run Walk Run Training will make you fall in love with running!
Our goal is to help people of all ages and abilities, both runners and walkers, train for distances from 5K (3.1 miles), 10K (6.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), marathon (26.2 miles), or year-round using Jeff Galloway’s Run-Walk-Run method: run for a short segment, take a walk break, then repeat.
This program is tailored to each person’s current fitness level and distance goal based on your Magic Mile (one-mile time trial). You’ll run with people your own pace no matter what distance you’re training for. A Pace Group Leader keeps the speed slow enough for all members, and enforces walk breaks from the beginning to the end.
Jeff Galloway is an American Olympian and the author of Galloway's Book on Running, developed a program called Run Walk Run. Over a million runners and walkers have read Galloway books, attended his retreats / running schools, received E-coaching or individual consultation or joined his training programs and now you can try it for free. The program helps beginners start running, or bestows running joy to non-stop runners who had given up and coming back to the sport.
