Inspired by the oldest and largest cottonwood tree at Gathering Place, The Reading Tree Challenge united Tulsa County in a common love of reading. Tulsa students took on the challenge and exceeded their goal of reading two million books before the Park opened on September 8, 2018. This program provided educators and families with activities, resources and an online book log to inspire children to find adventures inside books. With teachers, educators and families working together, we can inspire the next generation to marvel at the worlds that await them from page to page.
Now that Gathering Place is open and the Reading Tree Challenge is completed, the legacy of the Reading Tree will continue through educational programming events and weekly story times.
