Wildflower Warriors

Wildflower Warriors

Gathering Place is proud to feature more than 16 acres of prairie grass! Prairie grass is beneficial for our environmental footprint by reducing mowing, fuel consumption, and irrigation while increasing plant diversity. The seed mixes emulate different ecosystems in Oklahoma and were designed by the experts at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

We are looking for Wildflower Warriors, a dedicated volunteer team, dedicated to learning, assisting and advocating for the Gathering Place prairies. Wildflower Warriors will be guided through activities that help Gathering Place maintain the prairies in the most sustainable ways possible by utilizing Integrated Pest Management programs. There will be a monthly class to help learn about wildflowers, weed identification and maintenance activities. Prairie work includes weeding, cutbacks, raking, seed collection, and seed cleaning. Additionally, the Wildflower Warriors will help advocate for wildflowers at Gathering Place events.

Sign up to be a Wildflower Warrior by applying to be a Park Volunteer! Please select Wildflower Warriors in the Volunteer Interests section.
